SARATOGA SPRINGS - William Foresman Shafer, 46, of North Broadway, died at home Friday.
Born in Chicago, Ill., graduate of the Deerfield School, Stanford University and the graduate school of design at Harvard University.
Architect and capital projects manager at Union College in Schenectady and also had been the pyrotechnics engineer for the Steak Club of Guilford in Baltimore, Md.
Member of the board of managers of the Saratoga Golf and Polo Club.
Survivors include his wife of 18 years, Susan Briere Shafer; two daughters, Whitney McDonald Shafer and Lucy Elizabeth Shafer, both of Saratoga Springs; his father, John R. Shafer of Napa, Calif.; his mother, Elizabeth S. Wells of Santa Rosa, Calif.; two brothers, Douglas F. Shafer of St. Helena, Calif., and Bradford J. Shafer of San Francisco, Calif.; and a sister, Elizabeth S. Cafaro of St. Helena.
