The 1880 Census database is online at FamilySearch.org. Mary was b. AL; David, TN; & Laura, MS. For further SELBY background see this SELBY forum, #327 & 470. The will of Samuel SELBY, Union Dist., SC, pr. 7 F 1831, is difficult to read, but if you know what it says, you can pick out the names of Samuel's wife Anny; sons William and Philip, executors; dau. Deborah EVANS; & deceased daus. Martha HINTON & Peggy. There are grandchildren whose names are illegible on my copy. Southern Relatives, by Dixie HAMMOND, 1963: Dist. 96, Union Co., SC, 1790: Samuel SELBY, two m. 16+, one m. u. 16, two f., and one slave. Union Co., SC, 1800, Sec. 2, p. 232A, Samuel SELBY, one male and one female, both over 45. Page 17: Phillip SELBY, one male 16 to 26; 1 female 16 - 26; three females to age ten. Union Co., SC, 1827, Book 2, p. 236. Samuel SELBY, wf. Anny. Deceased daus. Martha & Peggy; living children: Deborah, Nancy, William, & Philip. Deborah married 27 Mar. 1785, Ev. Church, Fredk. Co., MD, Perry EVANS. Martha had ch. Samuel, Thomas, Jeremiah, Michael, Rebekah, Mary, & Ann "Nancy" HINTON. Martha's husband may have been Philip HINTON. Peggy (married name unknown) had Nathaniel, Jas. Edmund, Mary, Nancy, Sarah "Sally", & Peggy. Of children of Philip SELBY (1774 - 1833), in 1880 I only see Nancy (28 Mar. 1799 - 8 July 1884), listed as 82, with husband James G. CARLISLE, 78, Northeast, Attala, MS. They were near a James CARLISLE, 57, SC. If 57 is right, James must have been by a prior wife, as Nancy's marriage is listed as 9 S 1824. What information can you provide about David SELBY?
