I think the Mormons took care of the connection of Hiram G. to Artemus for you. Try Googling "Mormon Historical Studies" +"Artemus Millet"

I just happened upon that while looking for proof for your Hiram. It shows that Artemus was born in Westmoreland, Cheshire, NH, but he went to Brooklyn & Milton, VT, and then to New York, but he worked on some large masonry projects in Ernestown, Loyalist, Ontario, and that's when Hiram was born.

There are other Hirams, one was born ca. 1797, brother of Artemus. Another was born in Maine at about the same time as your Hiram.

Do you have a death date for John O. SELBY? Could he actually be John C. SELBY (1 Jan. 1818, KY - 12 Aug. 1860, Shelby Co., IL) son of Barkley Townsend SELBY?
