There are some discrepancies in this, but it should provide some clues. Please verify. Ancestry database of the census of 1860, Shelby Co., IL, has two households for SELBY: Barclay, 75; Margaret T., 38; Mary, 18; Suphinia [Tryphena], 14. John O., 42; Louisa, 43; William B., 24; Benjamin, 20; John W., 18; George W., 15; Mary E., 13; & Thomas, 10. Illinois Marriage database, Shelby County, SELBY: William B., 1 May 1862, Susan M. BUGH. However, the Illinois database shows Mary S. SELBY m. 28 Nov. 1860, Samuel MOYER, and Mary E. A. SELBY m. 24 Jan. 1865, Joseph SCOTT. This is not my SELBY line. Mine is from western Maryland, first proven SELBY ancestor = Mordecai, b. ca. 1720+. The Eastern Shore line goes much further back. Do you have more clues about John O. & his son Wm.?
