As you probably already know, there were several Joseph Steelmans in Gloucester/Atlantic Co during that time period. My Joseph Steelman was born 21 Apr 1778 and died 16 Mar 1852 (Atl Co NJ). He married Elizabeth Scull 27 Sep 1804. Elizabeth, dau of Benjamin Scull, was born about 1780 and died 1861. All births, deaths, marriage, etc were in what is now Atlantic County (although many dates are prior to when Atlantic was formed from a part of Gloucester County). This couple was living in Hamilton Twp in 1850. Could this possibly be your couple?
Which child are you researching? I descend from Alice Steelman, b 8 Apr 1806,who married another Joseph Steelman (4 kids), then married Jesse Smith 25 Feb 1832 (5 kids), and d 26 Feb 1871. I know Alice had several siblings. Let me know if this could possibly be your Joseph Steelman.
