Schaffer / Zanghi connection

Hi. In researching my husband's paternal grandmother, Pauline S. (nee Schaffer) Wooddell, I keep getting linked to a Zanghi family, yet can see no direct connections. My husband and mother-in-law both think there is reason to believe there is a Zanghi relationshio but no one remembers why. Pauline was either born in 1903 in Hosmer, SD, to Phillip Heinrich "Henry" Schaffer (Germnay) and Margaretta "Marie" Krein (Russia) or she was born abt 1904 also in SD to Jacob and "Katie" Schaffer, both from Germany. Since I know there was a Michael Zanghi married to a woman named Catherine, who then left her with four kids, perhaps Catherine (is this the same Katie?) remarried (to a Schaffer) and moved west. Yet one version tells me Pauline whould have been born a Zanghi in NY, not a Schaffer in SD. Pauline lived into her late 90s and died in 1996 in Spokane, WA, and had a younger brother named Sam Schaffer (who also lived long and died in Spokane) to whom she was close, but I believe she also had sisters. Can anyone help?

Kate Wooddell
Spokane, WA
