After a courageous 16-year battle with cancer, former Avoca resident Lynne Schaeffer-Quattrociocchi passed away peacefully at her home in Elk Grove, California, with her loving family by her side on October 23, 2006. She was the loving wife of 17 years of Tony Quattrociocchi; beloved mother of Holly Thomas and husband Jamie, Rippon, CA; Heather Balchus, Denver, CO; Michael Quattrociocchi, Sacramento, CA; and Angela Quattrociocchi-Bennett, LaGrande, OR; and the expectant grandmother of two. She was also the cherished daughter of Stanley and Clarine Schaeffer, Slayton, MN; and beloved sister of Paula Schaeffer, Madelia, MN; and Scott Schaeffer, Marysville, CA.
Lynne grew up in Avoca, Minnesota, attended Avoca Elementary School and Faith Evangelical Lutheran church, and graduated from Slayton High School in 1970. She joined the U.S. Air Force after graduation and served for four years. She was a talented artist and craftsperson who retired after 20 years with the U.S. Postal Service, most recently in Elk Grove.
A memorial service, date and time to be announced later, will be held in Avoca in the coming weeks. Memorials may be made in Lynne's memory to the Hospice of Murray County, 36 Park Dr., Slayton, MN 56172.
