Hi Claire,
I would happy to share what I have. Just received results of a child look-up 1900 census on my grandfather, George Schaefer. Head of household was listed as Pauline Schaefer on 315 Bushwick Ave. Brooklynn, NY. Husband Louis Schaefer (Schafer) was not indicated and only 5 of 7 children were on it. Info was located state of NY Vol.78; E.D. 248; sheet 40; line 75 Children included George 10/1881; Henry 6/1885; Louisa 11/1889; Anna 3/1892 and Lilly 3/1895. Gustav and Pauline are not mentioned. May need to check 1910 & 1920 census though I was told by my father (memory not very good anymore) that Gus died young. The only Gus my dad remembers is "Gussie" Bussman, son of Pauline Schaefer and Henry Bussman. I'll let you know if I turn up anything else.
