Descendents of Etienne Racine (Root) - Need help with lineage

Hello,

My family name is Root (Racine in French). I am certain that my ancestry traces back to Etienne Racine (1607-1689) however, the information contained on the Racine Famille site as it relates to my direct ancestors contains many errors related to birth dates (inaccuracies by 20 years) and of familial relationships (brothers noted as father and son relationships, etc).

http://www.genealogie.org/famille/racine/reneengli/pafg59.htm#28288

I am hoping someone can help me get on the right path.

I am descendent of Bert Root b. 1881 in Vermont married to Mary Pelletier b. 1882 in Quebec. Bert had 12 brothers and sisters - Lena, John, Edward, Elmer, Leslie, Frank, Agnes, Lewis, Marguerite, Ina, Lettie, Helen. Bert's father was Joseph Root b. 1850 in Vermont married to Celina Langnier (spelling?) b. 1853 Quebec. Joseph's father was John Racine b. about 1830 in Canada to an unknown Mary. I do know Joseph's brothers and sisters include Clara, Fanny, Louise and Frankie.

I am at a standstill and appreciate any help in getting me to link further in my lineage.

Thank you,
Jodi Wallach
