I have a John Robert Riley born abt 1787 NC. I have not found him antwhere in early records from NC, thru, KY, TN, OH, IN before he settled in Clay Co, IL. The only way I have learned what I have is from a Gaskins Family Bible. I did find him in the 1840 Clay Co Census. Also his brother James but have lost his trail completely. He had sons by the name of James, John & William born in IN but do not know where that was. James, John & William remained in Clay Co, IL. John Robert, wife Cather, daughter Vesta Ann with husband Davis Foster, son Sanford and son Marion migrated to Linn Co, KS, abt 1850. I feel they originated in MD but it could have been Virginia. He was married to a Catherine Rossiter born abt 1795 MD. They both died in Linn Co, Kansas.
