The Rileys seem to have a couple of hereditary impairments. A great aunt of mine was married to a Riley. This branch has an hereditary condition where the sons either are born blind or they go blind. Supposedly this condition is inherited through the mothers who are Ridleys.

The family legend was that this blindness was picked up from cattle.
