Richerson Family Genealogy Forum

Hi Pat, My name is Alison Bigbee and I am writing back to your posting because some dates and names of your husband's family match dates and names of my husband's....perhaps we are related! My husband is descended from his gggrandmother, Mary Francis Richerson Long (wife of John Jacob Long.) She was born in 1865 in Missouri (d. 1941 in Mobeetie, Texas)--her father is listed on her death certificate as John Richerson, mother is listed as Polly Roberts. Her brothers were John R. (b. 1858 in MO, d. 1937 in Sayre, OK--according to death certificate), Schuyler (b. 1864 in MO, d. 1932 in Sayre, OK--according to death certificate), Robert (b. abt. 1869 in MO), Walter (b. abt. 1871 in MO), John H. (b. June 1878 in Texas, according to the 1900 census). Mary Francis also had a sister, Idress Richerson Freeman (b. abt. 1861 in MO, married to J. B. Freeman.)
In the 1900 census, Mary Francis Richerson Long's father was found in Rodger Mills County, Oklahoma, town of Berlin....he is listed as John H. Richerson, b. December 1836 in Missouri (his parents were born in KY), his wife's name is Mary (b. June 1838 in Missouri, parents born in KY) and John H. Richerson (b. June 1878 in Texas) is listed as living with them. I know that John H. Richerson (the elder one) was involved in the 1892 land run in Oklahoma, along with J. B. Freeman, John R. Richerson and Schuyler Richerson.
I also have a copy of an Interview of Schuyler Richerson's wife conducted for the Indian Pioneer papers of Oklahoma in which she describes Schuyler's father, John Harvey Richerson, and lists his death date as 1904 in Doxey, Oklahoma.
I am completely stuck on finding the parents of John Harvey Richerson or Polly (Mary) Roberts--and was certainly pleased to find your posting!! Hope to hear back from you to compare notes--it would be great to find another cousin!
Alison Bigbee
