Speculation Verified VIA DNA

Our Richardsons are believed to have lived "Near Augusta" in the early 1800s. It is believed they moved to Hickman county Tennessee about 1807 and into Arkansas by 1840, and finally into Texas in by 1860. There are other Richardson descendants who have almost identical family histories, and it has long been thought that our ancestor, Terrell Richardson was related to the other Richardsons, Joseph, John, etc.

Last year my mother's brother, John W. Richardson, agreed to have his DNA tested. As of today, we can confirm that a descendant of Joseph Richardson had his DNA tested and matches our uncle John W. Richardson 67 markers exactly. This should put to rest any question about whether Terrell and Joseph were brothers.

A descendent of John Richardson who also was born near Augusta and moved to Tennessee is currently testing his DNA as well and with 25 markers returned thus-far, matches 25 markers exactly. We anxiously await the remaining marker results, but I expect the connection to hold up all the way to 67 markers.

It is nice to be able to say that these Richardson ancestors were related instead of we think they probably were related.
