Still looking for information on William Richards. Got his wife Doza (Dysey and other spellings) back pretty far but just stall at Reverend William Richards Allegedly from some research someone deal quite a while back that I got in touch with that actually had a book about The Descendants of Rev. William Richards, that the possible father was John but no proof at that time (about 4 years ago). Rev. William Richards - Born between 1776-1786 - Born either North Carolina or Maryland - Died 10 Sep, 1858 - Pickens County, Georgia SPOUSE: Doza or Dysey Cobb - Born 06 Apr 1788 - Lincoln County, North Carolina - Died 08 Mar 1855 - Pickens County, Georgia MARRIED: Jun 15, 1805 - Lincoln County, North Carolina Children: - Cynthia Richards Oct 23, 1805 - Elijah Richards June 10, 1807 - John R. Richards Mar 4, 1809 - Joab A. Richards Mar 23, 1811 - William M. Richards Oct 13, 1812 - Nellie C. Richards Mar 8, 1815 - Starling Richards Mar 24, 1817 - Jeptha Joseph Richards Sep 14, 1819 - Stephen Richards Dec 5, 1821 - Mary Ann Richards Mar 5, 1824 - Alexander W. Richards Dec 29, 1825 - James Anderson Richards June 1828 Every once in a while I continue my search to go back farther. Some of the descendants stated that the Richards surname should NOT have an 'S' at the end. Stating that it should be Richard and one descendant changed it legally back to Richard. It is my opinion, and I have facts to back it up, that we are of German descent instead of English as many believed as if you look at most of the marriages, the males descendants were marrying Germans. Several German families migrated to SE Missouri and Elijah Richards (son of William) was one of them, along with his brother Starling. Both these brothers married German girls from the Bollinger family. At any rate, I believe the Richard was a misspelling of something like Reichart or something like that but have hit a deadend at Rev. William Richards. Any further help would be appreciated. Lee E.
