Richards Winslow Maine

Searching for information about the parents etc. of John Richards of Winslow Maine. b. 1798 m. Almira Reynolds. He was my gggfather.

My sister at one time copied from a book "Captain Samuel Richards father of John was an officer in Revolutionary War. He came from New Hampshire to Winslow and was a son of John and a grandson of a John". Unfortunetly we don't know the name of the book or if he was related to us. There were Richards in Winslow that we think were not related or at least not closely to us.

Also, in our family plot(Winslow) at one time was a stone for Elmerin W Richards. He was in the civil war. How he relates to us though is a mystery. Any info would be appreciated.
