The family story goes that my grandmother, Mary Amanda Reynolds, had a brother, Richard Reynolds, born May 23, 1857, who left Kentucky after the Civil War and married a Creek Indian, Eliza Root, in Oklahoma. They had a son, David Carlisle Reynolds, born Dec. 21, 1890, and who also married a Creek Indian, name unknown, and their son was Allie Reynolds, who pitched for the New York Yankees 1947-54. He pitched two no-hitters in 1951. He died Dec. 27, 1994 at age 79 in a nursing home in Oklahoma City. Can anyone verify this? I have a letter from David Carlisle Reynolds dated in 1984, when he would have been 94 and a retired minister.
