I would like to locate the name of C.C.'s parents and siblings. Per the story passed down in the family, he was born in Rapides Parish, LA 1830, his parents died when he was about 12-14 leaving him and 2 sisters orphaned. The only "REID" on the 1840 Rapides census appears to be a single person with a smudge over his initial. When he was about 17 he moved to Polk Co., TX with a James Marsh family and others from Rapides Parish. I have no further info on the sisters. Everything I locate has his name as Claiborn or C.C., however my Grandmother wrote his name down as John Reid and when he chose a cattle brand in TX about 1850 it was JR. If John was part of his name, he did not use it on any legal papers. Any info on this Great-great-grandfather will be most appreciated.
