Did a little search on the pastor and found a John A Anderson who led the Presbyterian Church in Stockton during 1862 timeframe. The W C Anderson, also a pastor, who performed the service could have been his father, William C Anderson who was visiting the son. The church may have a record of the event. Info on the Andersons is at URL:

Checked out one in 1863 from same paper that marriage notice was in with likelihood that there was a birth sometime a year later and found following which looks like a fit:

BIRTH – in this city, Sunday, Aug. 2d, to the wife of John C. REID, of a daughter.
