Sounds like I'm not the only Michael Rectanus. I live in Columbus, Ohio. My father, William, was born in Uhrichsville, Ohio. He is the son of Arthur "Bud" Rectanus.

I have heard that the name Rectanus comes from the Latin phrase "right-thinker". Apparently, our ancestors converted to Lutheranism and changed their name to Rectanus.
