Hi ron,
Thanks for the information. I have a question. I have contacted you before about my ancestor George Ray. He bought land in 1798 in Jackson co Ga from a William Head Jr and wife Henrietta Ray who I believe was George's daughter or neice. The land was in the fork orf the Oconee River which I believe was a little northest of Watkinsville. When Clarke co Ga was formed in 1801 his land was then in Clarke co Ga. Hehad sons Solomon,Samuel and Mark Ray. George was born in Va probably in Surry co Va or Brunswick co Va in the 1740's. The earliest record I can find about George is in 1769 when he and a Henry Yarbrough bought and sold land in southeast Brunswick co Va. George sold his land in 1778 and went to Warren co NC and sold his Warren co NC land in 1789 and went to Chatham co NC for a short while and then was in Wilkes co Ga byabout 1790. His land was in southwest Wilkes co Ga off Harden's Creek near the Hancock co Ga line and the Greene co Ga line. He then went to Jackson co Ga and then Clarke co Ga. I am still trying to find which Ray or Wray line he was from. Have you seen information about George while researching yhour Rays to tell if he was relateed to your Rays? Thanks, Ross Smith rsmith6670@msn.com
