Hello John, My name is Robert Marx, and although I don't meet your criteria for the male familial genetic study, I would be interested in findings related to any information uncovered at a later date that pertains to any eastern european based "Raabs;" specifically any you may find rooting back towards to what is now Gyor, in northern Hungary. My maternal great-(great?)-grandfather was named Mihaly Raab, born approximately 1812 or 1813, and may be listed in the 1948 Jewish Census, but my grandmother, who ironically, is out visiting from Hungary at the moment, states that our family is Roman Catholic, so we might not have a historical/ancestry.com paperwork match in this situation. Also, she stated that he was a gypsy, Romani/Roman(?), but is very sure that the city of origin for Mihaly is Gyor, for what it's worth. I might be able to provide some information about my Raab side by asking my grandmother some pointed questions while she is visiting, if you're interested; she's 88 but is still pretty sharp. I'm hoping you will consider providing some information when the time comes if you find that it applies to my familial situation. If you can't, then I wish you luck in your research regardless. Best Wishes, Robert Marx Notify Administrator about this message?
