Judy, Possibly related. I am tracking the "Quodling" family tree. Several things point to them being related to the quadlings, but I am wracking my research brains to find the common point. There were a few quodlings in the UK sometime back (1700's ) and there don't appear to be any nowadays.

The emigration of the quodlings to Australia, seems to hinge around Henry Quodling b 25 May 1809, in London. He arrived in Tasmania on 9 Dec 1852 aboard the Lady Montague, which sailed from Plymouth. May have been a Royal Engineer, as he has been referred to as Sargeant Quodling in some documentation. Wife was Eliza Mclelland, born Armagh. 1805,

He appeared to have a son (Henry George), born sometime between 1828 and 1836 in Armagh, Ireland. He apparently came to Australia, in 1854 at the age of 30, which would put his yob as 1824, but that would have his father as a 15 year old when he was born.

Henry had a father, Henry James, who married a Fanny Foster.

So any information on Henry Quodling or Quadling, from around 1770 through to 1850 would be of interest.
