You may know this by now - answer to your qeustion. I have friends in Czech Republic and Porges is shortened from Porgesova. There are many Porges families in Roudnice nad Labem, Czech Republic. Hope this will help someone. Many were taken to Terezin Concentration camp but did not come back. Others still live in Roudnice.
