I was always intrigued by the origin of the name, and one explanation I've received was it comes from "Bourgeois". My father was born in Dunajska Streda in Czechoslovakia, and his father, Leopold Porgesz was married to Julia (Yentl) Veiszova. Have you visited http://www.porges.net/porges/HomeGeneral.html
