David,
Jane Polk Moody lived in Darlington County SC. Jane Polk Moody was born in 1794 but I'm not sure of the the origin of her family. Darlington Co. SC is not far from Mecklenberg Co. NC. I think it is very likly there is a link with the Polk family of Mecklenberg NC. I have a photo of Jane Polk Moody in a large family gathering taken in 1892.
