Hi,
I was searching Stewart Co TN for James Turpin and found the following (which you have above also)
22 Jan 1810 From Stewart County Deed Book C (or 3)
JOHN POLK, deed of gift to William Turpin (age 4) and John Turpin (age 3), children of James and Nancy Turpin, various property; 22 Jan 1810

These are the children of James Turpin and Nancy Ann Tatum who were md 1803 in Madison Co., KY

I have no idea why John Polk would be deeding a gift of land to their children at such an early age... There must be a close connection that I am unaware of.

Also James' brother Jesse Turpin was mentioned in another land deed as being of Christian Co KY and James of Madison KY, (they got land because their father James Turpin Sr died ca 1780 in Red River Massacre or at least on that expedtion)

Any help greatly appreciated
Glenda
