Bob ,
I began work on my Polk line about 1975, first in the libraries in Knoxville and correspondence with others, then moved to Hardin Co. TN where I live now. Most of my work has been through contacts like your self on the internet. In 1979, I joined Emory Murphy and others who were researching William Polk IV, who was thought to be the son of William Polk, 1725-1806. It was determined by Murphy that William 4 had the following siblings: Hannah, ca 1755-?, who married Thomas Shelby; your Thomas, 1757-1841; John Polk, Sr., 1782-1846 and Ezekiel Polk, ca 1765-1791.

Since a grandson of William 4, Levi Moore Polk, ca 1807 GA- 1870’s TN, came to Tishomingo Co., MS before 1850 and to Hardin County, where I live, before 1860, By association, I became the authority on the Hardin Co., Polks. Two sons of John Polk, 1782-1846, came to Hardin Co. as well before 1830. There is documentation in the court records that John and Thomas were sons of John Polk who died in 1846. I have no proof that John and your Thomas Polk were brothers, nor that they were sons of William 1825-1806. What can I do to help?
David
