OK dear John, I see your big efforts in finding roots of your grandpa Jan John Nowak, and your help to others, here is my help and calls to your Chlebna:

Yes, in this Chlebna is still living family Nowak, and in 2009 Polish phone directory there are:
# Irena Nowak, Chlebna, Poland, ph. no: +13 438 22 90
# Edward Nowak, Chlebna, Poland, ph. no: +13 438 08 28
Calling~~~~~~~~:
# Irena Nowak's home: nowbody at home now.
# Edward Nowak's home: Mr. Edward died last year, and fortunately his daughter is at old home of Nowak's. She told the family of her father Edward Nowak is living and farming in this Chlebna for centuries, she cannot tell for today if any of your family names is related, she asks you the letter with all these details, and maybe any old family pictures? She will check the matter with other family members (Irena Nowak is her neighbour), she will share with you their names, she is giving her postal address:

Ilona Chudy
Chlebna 137a
38-460 Jedlicze
Polska

(Chudy is after the husband). They are not speaking English, they have at their home computer with internet (youngest generation is using it), my advice for you would be to send them first letter in Polish using any webtranslator, for eg: http://translate.google.com/?hl=en#

Good luck - POWODZENIA!! And wishing you finding the family of your Grandpa Jan in Poland, and share with them this Christmas Eve very traditional Polish holy Oplatek.

Tad
