I stopped here for a moment, busy today with Monday business, as this very old document from Poland is a mine of information!! Nobel to the memeber of your family in the US who preserved it!!!! Just to give you basic info:
1894: born Stanislaw Slowik (fully in Polish Sl~owik - Polish grammar S slahed with Polish diacritical mark) - means in Polish language a nightingale (wonderful family name!), his father was Mikolaj Slowik (aged 36), mother Zofia Slowik nee family Owczarek (22), the witnesses were from same village: Jan Skonieczny (40), and Stanislaw Skonieczny (45), the godparents were: Szczepan Bijak(spe?), and Marianna Wawrzyniak, finally the certificate is giving the EXACT place of birth, family life and home: village Gorzuchy in the parish Staw, near main local town Kalisz.
Finally, GO TO airport, and book a time to visit Poland!!!!! - in this very old very small Polish village, noted from the 10th century, in the past it was rich village and parish, in the 19th century pauperized under the Prussia-Germany, touched tragically by two world wars in the 20th century, is still living and farming family Slowik (Sl~owik), from 2009 Poland ph directory www.ksiazka-telefoniczna.com you can find confirmation: Mr. Andrzej (Andrew) Slowik and family Slowik, village Gorzuchy, Poland, ph. no: +62 762 62 88, and you can test me, let's check if friends of father Mikolaj - family Skonieczny (the witnesses on the document from 1894) - is also living on-site, AND YES!, with same source you can find there: Danuta Skonieczna (family Skonieczny), village Gorzuchy, Poland. Finally, you can visit all these places even now, here is the view from our Angels' eyes (with zoom in and out :), and if you love this wonderful game of imagination in our wonderful life, you can see your ancestors way, through local road and small wood, to church Staw, where they attended every Sunday in the 19th century holy mass, and where your Stanislaw Stanley Stovick was baptized, AMEN!
