Your explanation makes sense, but the photo doesn't make sense in that case.

The lady standing in the photo is Jadwiga Budnik. The name Frances Puchalska is listed, and seems to refer to the lady sitting? However, Frances Puchalska is not Jadwiga's daughter (no daughters with that name). Thus, the explanation that she is saying "trust me, it's my daughter" doesn't make sense if the woman pictured sitting is Frances.

In fact, the woman sitting cannot be Jadwiga's daughter at all, because she is too young to have a daughter that age. Her oldest daughter was only 5 years old in 1913 (which is when this picture was taken).

So, the daughter explanation does not make sense with this picture, neither of them are daughters of each other.


Jadwiga had a daughter named Helen Michalowicz. There was mention that Frances Puchalska was Helen's godmother. However, Helen was not born yet at the time of this photo.
