SOrry I don't I do believe that Raliegh is the son of William and Elizabeth Poe.I believe that this William was the son of William and lydia.If one reads carefully all of the records it appears that William Poe shows up in the records for Chatham Co about 1772 I believ it is him with a jOhn and Charles and Benjamin on Captn JOab Brooks roster for militia duty.He is found buying land from David Smith a witness was Henry Bray and three years later he sold this land to Henry Bray,both William and Elizabeth sign this ,then I suspect that William may have gone to Greyson and Montgomery Co Va.next he is found in Surry about 1793 daughter Elizabeth is marrying James Masters ,Edmund and Henry are frequently found signing records for the couple.they signed last about 1799 selling some land in Surry they migrated to Ashe Co .they are foud last as a couple in 1810 on the census for Ashe Co .they seem to be still alive.I feel that a list of their children is probably Henry born 1758 in Culpepper Co by his own records he inlisted in Randolph Co while living in Chatham .this would put him again with William and Elizabeth as they would have been near Siler City about this time.near the Randolph Co Border,one can track this William and Elizaeth through Henry from Culpepper to Chatham to,and perhaps Montgomerey or Grayson,then Surry definatly he and Edmund are alwayss near by,I believe that they had other children William Poe who left a widow Susannah in 1799 ,Henry Bray acted with Susannah as executor,(I also think that this William and Susannah is my ancestor the parents of John w POe ),I also think that William and Elizabeth Bray Poe had Edmund,Hannah,Susannah (Married a Morgan)Elizabeth ,Mathias, Raliegh ,and john.I think again the name Mathias used points to Elizabeth as Elizabeth Bray as this was a name used by that family .I can not prove any of this it would help me to find evidence of the proper Bray family near Culpeper Co Va .so far no luck .however Md is not far from Va just a short ways it is possible that Henry came to Va from Md for a spell before migrating to Chatham Co NC.
One of the difficulties of this genealogy is the man who appears to be Williams brother first John is found in Chatham om Bear Creek not far from William in Siler City .when William lived in Surry he was practically next door to John and his sons William and Lindsey.I feel that these men must be brothers. It is impossible to say for sure which might have been the father of these men I believe that the name Raligh is handed down through the Ashe Co Poes ,thus adding strength to my theory that Raliegh is the son of William and Elizabeth.
Records are found in Culpeper for an older William Poe and Wife Lydia records there frequently show a William Jr and a John and a jonathan acting as chain carriers .I believe that this John and this william are these two and I believe that Jonathan who moved to Caswell another brother.This is alao born up by the DNA evidence that seems to connect the Caswell Co Poes with the descendants of Edmund Poe.All this is still a good theory but it makes the most sense to me
