I believe that your Jonathan Poe is the JOnathan found in Culpeper along side of a Benjamin,John,and William Jr.These four young men seem to be in the family of William Poe SR and wife Lydia.These four named are often found acting as chain carriers for different surveys,often with William Sr.I suspect that Benjamin,John and William went to area on the county line near Chatham Co and Randolph co Nc.I believe that Jonathan went to Caswell Co NC.Proof is very elusive please don't quote this as fact.It is my working theory.It is possible that any of the four named (except William who is positively identified as their son )are sons of another Poe and were just acting as chain carriers with William Poe Srs family.For example they could be sons of the Benjamin Poe who was in Spotsylvania Co Va.also .because this area was not to far from William and Lydia.Believed that the older Benjamin of Spotsylvania and William of Culpeper were brothers.So it is possible that some of the younger men acting as chain Carriers with the older William were nephews and not sons .It is also possible with so much migration going on that there were Poes in the area from Md.There is an unexplained Edward as I recall.What is confusing about this family is that the Day family which is connected to the Patrick Poe family always seems next door to these other Poes when they are found in Chatham ,Ky,Indiana,almost anywhere you find the Poe family you find the Day family.and they connect to the Md family of Poes not the culpeper family.My point is due to the proximity of Md to culpeper Va It is possible that the Edward who is found in Culpeper is the son of this Poe family and some of these could be his descendants.
