Hi Helen,

I'm Danni Perry, from Idaho. My family tree has many mysteries as well. My GGgrandfather was Walter Daniel Perry, his father was Charles Robert Perry.

These are his parents:

Samuel Perry
B: abt 1831 ,,Missouri,USA
D: 1880 Missouri,USA

Mildred J. Burris
B: 26 May 1834 USA
D: 27 Feb 1918 Idaho, USA

Mildred's parents?

William Burris
B: abt 1814 Missouri?
Polly Roberts
B: Kentucky?

Please refer to the Census at the bottom:

Samuel Sr. is in the 1860 Census, but not in the 1870. I'm not sure if he died, I cannot find a death record. Maybe he just left? He had to be alive or at least with them until the latter part of '68, because the twins, Ida & Edward, are a year old. Unless the twins were Mary's (the daughter, age 15). I find no record of Mary marrying Elza Martin. Also there is a Samuel Jr. in the 1960 census, whom was 1 1/2...so he must have died, again no death record. (he would have fit between Robert & Thomas).

The biggest mystery is that they all disappeared! I find my GGGrandfather in Texas (as Robert) a few years later, working for the railroad. Then he shows up in Idaho (as Charles) in 1880, married. He writes Taylor Co, Texas as his place of residence on his marriage certificate. He later claims "married twice" on a census, so he must have been married in Texas?
His mother, Mildred, shows up in 1910, in Idaho, living next door to Charlie. She claims having had 10 children, only 3 are left living. (Which 2 besides my grandfather? perhaps they didn't die, perhaps she gave them away?) It also seems that the boys used both first names and middle names. Maybe the girls did too.

Oddities: My GGGrandfather, Charlis, used to say, "my people" instead of "kin" or "family". He refered to "the old ones" and told folktails about how Coyote brought fire to man and how Bobcat lost his tail.

He said his father had People in Tennessee and Virginia, and other places east and south.

When he homesteaded, it was right on the border of the Reservation and all his kids married Indians (white people just didn't do that in the late 1800's and early 1900's).
My problem is that My GGrandfather, Walter, married a Scot, the first time around. I know the connection to the Choctaw and Chickasaw is there....I just can't connect the dots.

If any of this is helpful, or even rings a bell, please let me know.

Thanks
