On the 1920 Federal Census for Shake Rag, Fayette County, GA I found ANDREW PEPPERand his wife OPHELIA, with children CLAUDE, FLORA, BENNIE, JESSIE, EVA MAE and EVIE LON.
By the 1930 Federal Census, Andrew is a prisoner in the Fayette County, GA jail, daughters Eva Mae, Evie Lan, Myrtie Kate and Grace are all wards of the state in a foster care facility. Son Claude is married to Annie B. and son Benjamin is living with Claude in Carroll County, GA.
I cannot locate Ophelia, or daughters Flora and Jessie. Andrew stated that he was married on the census, leading me to believe that Ophelia might have still been living at the time of the census, but where?
I am trying to determine if EVA MAE PEPPER later married CLYDE HOOKS. If anyone knows anything about this family, please contact me. BIG BRICK WALL!!
