He is the ggg grandson of Joseph Peregoy/Peregois who was born in 1665, probably in France. Joseph was probably a French Huguenot who went to England to escape persecution. Joseph came to Baltimore County where he indentured himself to Edward Mumford. He married Sarah Mumford in 1721. Two of Joseph's grandchildren, Robert and Edward (Grandsire Ned) left Maryland and settled in Patrick and Henry Countys, Virginia. They married sisters Mary and Hannah Elkins. Grandsire Ned married Hannah and is the founder of our line. He lived to be 104 years old. and had many childern. The Peregoy/Pedigo line is well documented, but does not include a stop in Jamacia or the Carolinas. Our line: Joseph PEREGOY/PEREGOIS/PEDIGO 1665-abt1671 m. Sarah Mumford, 1671-abt 1721.
