There is a photo of a beautiful parchment document dated 05 August 1854 on website http://www.familychest.co.uk/default.htm (use surname search to locate document number 0603008)

Those named
William Henry CHILD of Brighton, Sussex. Builder.
Sampson PAYNE of Clayfield House, Parish of Millbrook, Hampshire. Esquire.

It concerns a plot of land in the Parish of Millbrook, Hampshire, which was formerly part of Freemantle Park. It is bounded on the West by a new road called Park Road and contains 3 unfinished houses.

It appears that William Child acquired this property the previous day from Sampson Payne, to whom he now owes £680. This debt is now being formalised as a mortgage on the property, with provision to borrow a further £420 on the same property.

William Child undertakes to finish the buildings within 2 calendar months.
