Mr. Arterburn--I don't know whether you are still reading posts on this forum, but if you are, the John C. Payne of New York University whom you mention in your posts was my father. From which child of William Payne and Nancy Mansker do you descend?
In Amherst Co., VA, I found marriage records for Benjamin and his second wife, "Molley" Martin. They date to 1787. I believe that makes our ancestor, William, the child, and the only child, of Benjamin's first wife, Anne. The next oldest child, John, was born in 1788.
Do you know who the parents of the Martin sisters were?
