Don, I saw your post last week where you mentioned checking for something in the book "The Paynes of Virginia". I want to know if you can check on this for me? I am looking for ancestry information on a Mary (or Marie)Payne who married a John Guerrant, in Virginia (perhaps in or near Whitmell?). She died in 1871. I do not have a birthdate, but their second son was born in 1837, so I suppose she was born by 1815 or so. One of her grandsons believed she was related to Dolly Madison (nee Dorthea Payne), but the genealogical notes he left do not establish that as fact. His notes mention a Sir Thomas Fleming, whose daughter married a "Mr. Payne". He listed THAT Mr. Payne and his wife as the parents of our Mary (or Marie) Payne. Can you find this line in your book?
