I have not been able to locate a copy of the particular Cruickshank book to date. The general was fairly prolific, I have located several other books by him. It has just occurred to me to wonder if the Ontario Hist. Soc still operates, & if they have a copy. I'll check "Google". With a lot of Van Camps working on it over the years, we still have some unaccounted gaps. It appears our origins were with some late 1600 Dutch immigrants who settled pretty much in New Jersey. They were "Van Kampen" from the town "Kampen" N.E. of Amsterdam. The change to "Van Camp" was a slow one, & both forms were used contemporaneously for several generations. Some moved to the NY area around the revolution. Some were documented loyalists who filed claims. Nancy J. Van Camp lnpws a lot more about the Canadian VC's than I do. She moderates the "Proud to be a Van Camp" site at "My Family .com" Phil pvc@vancamp.org
