The Davis City Advance, Davis City, Iowa Thursday, January 25, l900 DICK PARMER, from Boone Co., stole a horse and coming to Davis City put the horse in Burrell's livery barn and went out in the country to visit relatives. The good appearance of the horse, and the low price at which he offered to sell it, aroused suspicion, so when a phone message was received asking about a stolen horse, PARMER was at once suspected. Constable Craig and W.C. Hamilton procured a warrant and went out and arrested the fellow, brought him to town, lodged him in the city bastile, and telephoned to Boone Co. that the horse and prisoner were here. Geo. Garner, Sheriff of that county, and the owner of the horse, arrived on the train Thursday morning and the horse being identified by the owner, was taken. Sheriff Garner took the prisoner away on the afternoon train. PARMER denies his guilt, but as he has been in the pen before, it is probable that he is the man wanted. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Copied by Nancee(McMurtrey)Seifert October l6, 2003 http://www.rootsweb.com/~iadecatu Notify Administrator about this message?
