For anyone who has been considering DNA testing, Family Tree DNA (FTDNA), the testing firm used by the Park/e/s surname project, has announced reduced prices for some of their tests. These prices are in effect for tests ordered and paid for by December 31, 2008. Test kits do not have to be completed by that date, only ordered and paid for to qualify for the lower group rate. Tests must be ordered through a surname group to qualify for these prices.
The Y-DNA37 is, in my opinion, the most useful test for our purposes, though some may desire the mitochondrial test as well or testing at the 67 marker level—entirely up to the participant to choose which test they want.
Y-DNA37: $119 after Dec 31: $149
Y-DNA37+mtDNAPlus: $199 after Dec 31: $278
Y-DNA67: $218 after Dec 31: $248
Y-DNA67+mtDNAPlus: $308 after Dec 31: $377
