Pagan origins?

I have visited Spain multiple times, but I have never once encountered someone with the name Pagan. So far all I have been told throughout my life is that three brothers came among one of the ships that Christopher Columbus sailed and ended up in Venezuela. From Venezuela, some how they went to Puerto Rico.

I would like to know what language Pagan came from, because it is not any of the descendants of the Latin language. My mother is Laura Pagan, and her father was Eliel Pagan Colon from Barranquitas Puerto Rico. If anyone knows the answer to this question, please don't hesitate to email me.

Gracias mi gente, y si ustedes saben algo de que estoy hablando, porfavor mandame un email para que puedo sorpresar mi familia.
