Couldn't your Elizabeth, b. circa 1740 be the Elizabeth you mention as daughter of John? If John, son of Harbott, died in 1785, Taylors Island, then he might have been born in the early 1700's which would have had him coming of an age to marry by the 1730's??? She would fit with a birth date of 1730...
