the reason you are getting alot of information leading to montreal, is most irish catholics from ireland settled in a place called giffintown quebec. it was located very close to montreal, near verdun - "the point" pointe st charles. these are all areas that you might be able to check the census on to find something.

my grandmother is an oreilly
her name is ellen (nellie) oreilly born 1895 died 197? married a mathew boyle died 194? all in (giffintown- verdun area) i have found her name on census and working on getting further back
i have been looking for information on this side for some time to see if i can match the boyles side and my mothers side powers, dunphy, campbell.
