Looking for O'Reilly/Reilly in Co Cavan area between Templeport and Ballyconnell area. My great great grandfather Francis O'Reilly/Reilly b.1844, married Catherine Bannon b. 1840, in or near Ballyconnell circa 1865. Their first born was Anne Reilly b. Oct. 1865. Then son Francis, b. May, 1869, Charles O'Reilly, b. Oct. 1870 and Owen B. Apr. 1873. Templeport is only 7-8 miles WNW of Ballyconnell. Francis was listed as a farm laborer on birth records of children. In the 1880's Francis became a shop keeper on Main St. in Ballyconnell until 1911. Baptism record for Charles in 1870 lists sponsors John O'Reilly and Anne Bannon. Baptism record for Owen 1873 lists Hugh Kiernan and Rose Grady.

I am hopeful that Anne Bannon is sister to Catherine and John O'Reilly is bother to Francis b. 1844. Also Hugh Kiernan could be a relative of Hugh McKiernan listed in next paragraph.

From a copy of the Marriage certificate of Co. Cavan In the Parish of Templeport on 22 November 1865 John BYRNE age 23 a farmer living in Templeport married a Ellen McKiernan age 20 spinster also of Templeport. John's father was a Francis Byrne also a farmer and Ellen dad was a Hugh Mckiernan also a farmer. Married by a Terrance Wagawrah. In the presence of Peter DEVINE and a Catherine BANNON.
I do not have any info on Francis O'Reilly/Reilly or Catherine Bannon beyond 1865 other than their birth years calculated back from the 1901 and 1911 census. Does anyone have a possible connection or ideas on how to proceed?
Timothy J Reilly
