Forrest: See if this information is germain to your Rabidoux family. The Alexander Aubin I have addressed in previous posts married a Josephine ROBIDOUX (aka RABIDOUX) on 1-31-1869 in Clintonville, Clinton, NY. Josephine was born on 11-20-1850 in Clintonville to Emanuel Rabidoux and M. Marie Soulard. She may have been related to Edward Rabidoux b. 1833 in CAN and Mathilda Rabidoux b. 12-15-1869. Also, the following was found:
Joseph Baudin, b. August, bap. 24 October 1875, St. John the Baptist, Keeseville, N.Y. Godparents Emmanuel Robidoux and Marceline Lamontagne.
Many Ro/abidoux families along the CAN/US border, supposedly ALL traceable to this ONE Manuel Robido.
The surname has many variations and the origin is reportdly traced back to Galacia, Spain, the parish of Santa Maria, of the Burgos bishopric, to Manuel (Emmanuel the French variant) Robido. There is reportedly no evidence to show that they were French nationals in Spain. Would appreciate any input, additional information, or corrections on this.
