My great grandfather, Johann Clemens Langenhorst (b. 11/27/1827 in Suttrup, Thuine Parish, Hanover Province, Germany) received a letter on 1/28/1904 from "R. Middendorf" in which he refers to my great grandfather (Johann Clemens) as his cousin. Johann Clemens was the son of Johan Volbert Langenhorst (b. 11/12/1799 in Suttrup; d. 12/16/1874; m. Anna Maria Margaretha Luegermann).
If Johann Clemens and R. were cousins . . . Johann Volbert, his father, would have had a daughter who married a "Middendorf". The 1904 letter also called Johann Clemens' wife, Anna Maria Elizbeth NYHEUS (b. 10/6/1843 in Wettrup, Lengerich Parish, Hanover Province, Germany), his niece.
Can any of you shed light on the identity of my "R. Middendorf"?
