Mrs. W. McMaster of Princess Anne, Maryland is said to have been in possession of the Dale family bible.
I have recently learned that "W. McMaster" of Princess Anne was probably William S. McMaster, born 1848, a lawyer, and that his wife was Ellen Dale, daughter of the Rev. William Dale (1822-1907) of Worcester County, Maryland.
Ellen Dale had two daughters, Louise and Ellen McMaster, and she had two brothers, John A. Dale, born 1851, a physician, and Charles Godfrey Dale (1850-1925), my ancestor.
We learned about her marriage because Ellen Dale had attended Western Maryland College in the class of 1872, and the alumni association there had received information about her marriage to William S. McMaster.
A daughter of Charles G. Dale, called Ella Dale, was my great-grandmother. She also attended Western Maryland College, in the class of 1894.
John A Dale married Sallie ___ and had a son, Richard, born August 1893 in Princess Anne, Somerset County, Maryland. Richard married Stella ___ and had a son Richard Dale. born 1923.
Ellen McMaster, born 1880, daughter of Ellen Dale and William S. McMaster, was single in 1920, living in Princess Anne; A. Louise McMaster, born 1877, was not living at home in 1920. I would like to know who she married.
I am hoping to meet a descendent of William S. McMaster and his wife, Ellen Dale, aunt and uncle of my great-grandmother, or anyone who who knows what became of the Dale family bible. I am hoping that whoever has it now can share whatever family information was recorded in it.
Any leads would be appreciated.
