Serena Jane Howell was born in 1806 in/near Wayne Co. NC. She first married a man named Spencer then married a man named Macauley before or in early 1829. Serena Jane and Mr. Macauley had one son, J. T. (John Thomas) McCauley (born 1829) in Wayne Co. NC. Mr. Macauley died before 1837. Serena Jane remarried to Barnabas Smith by 1837, however, J. T. Macauley never took "Smith" as his surname. I am trying to find this mystery Macauley in NC, the father of J. T. McCauley. Any clues helpful.
