For what it's worth there was a Nelson Marshall* Maybee
1851-1926, buried in Madoc ON.
If you do end up with Tobias, you will want to know that he is in the 1790 census for Dutchess Co NY, and likely moved to Canada not long afterwards. Settled in Prince Edward Co ON. Some descendants ended up in Brock Tp.
In such records of Tobias as I have, haven't spotted a Daniel, so will check some other families.
